Update 1PM: I just got off the phone with Ron. He has been going since 1PM yesterday with first trying to get to Rogers Lake on the unplowed 430 (Still not Plowed at post). Then he got on the groomer and didn’t stop until late this morning. As mentioned in the early post (groomed the California Lake Loop, Trail 23 from the Highway 430, up through Rogers Lake, Red Pine Shelter to Popple Depot, 506 and back to Rogers Lake). Ron reported that the major snow is within 20 Km from Rogers Lake and there is about only 30cm at Popple Depot. We may do trail 22 if the road gets plowed by tomorrow as there are vehicles stuck on the 430 to Rogers Lake. I was also speaking with Alyre from Serpentine and he says there is about 30 cm down in that area as well. Note: Give a lot of credit to Ron Scott for making his way up to Rogers Lake yesterday to groom what he could.
Good morning from Bathurst. It is 0 and snowing here in Bathurst. With all the precipitation that fell here locally, it didn’t amount to much more than 10 cm due to the temperatures hovering between 0 and +2, so what fell was of the very wet and heavy variety. However, just moving 20 Km towards the high ground, the story changes with up to 50 to 60 cm and temps nearer -2. Such is the case between Nepisiguit, Rogers Lake and Governors. And I’m assuming Serpentine is the same.
We will see some snow between now and late tonight.
Grooming: We had the #2 groomer out since early yesterday evening. So far it has groomed the California Lake Loop, Trail 23 from the Highway 430, up through Rogers Lake, Red Pine Shelter and is currently sitting at Popple Depot with no word on how it is making out, but I’m assuming he is battling some heavy snow up to 50cm.
The NBFSC map is working, but for some reason our groomer tracking system shows errors.
