Last Night's Grooming

Good morning to a New Week. Grooming last night had the # 1 out of Roger's Lake on trail23 west to Red pine Shelter, up the 507, Trail 22 to the 301, then back to Red Pine and up Piston Alley to Popple Depot, and back to Rogers Lake. The #2 went from Nepisiguit on Trail 23 to Nine Mile Shelter and on Trail 22 to the 22/507 intersection then back to Nepisiguit on same. In summary, all main trails west of Nepisiguit Lodge were groomed.

I'm sure most of you are looking at this week's forecast and beginning on Tuesday evening will more than likely have an impact on some trails throughout NB. Here is the Outlook on the weather in the Bathurst area, which is quite similar to other areas of the province. On Tuesday temperatures are going to range from +5 to + 3 overnight, on Wednesday temperatures will range from + 10 to + 8 with 10 to 15 mm of rain on Thursday we have 1 to 2 more millimeters of rain in early morning then dropping to -16 that night. Friday they are announcing-8 to -10°. So we'll have to assume that the trails will be on the icy side if there is anything left. The long range from March the 2nd to March the 10th, will be -3 at night to + 8 during the day with some rain on one or two days.

Given the fact that our trailbase is probably as low as it has been in several years and the fact that we have this upcoming weather, if it holds through, gives a strong possibility that some Trails may be closed or sledding for hardcore. This has been a strange winter right across the nation, including Quebec which usually is a good mainstay for sledding.
