Good morning again from Bathurst. There's not much to report other than this could be the last day of decent sledding for a while. But we had the #2 unit out lSt night with a short run from Nepisiguit to Rogers Lake and back. Below is my same spiel on the weather as I reported yesterday.
Our wings night is still a go for Thursday night. This week's sponsors are Bathurst Tire and JJ Branch Contractors.
I'm sure most of you are looking at this week's forecast and beginning on tonight will more than likely have an impact on some trails throughout NB. Here is the Outlook on the weather in the Bathurst area, which is quite similar to other areas of the province. On Tuesday temperatures are going to range from +5 to + 3 overnight, on Wednesday temperatures will range from + 10 to + 8 with 10 to 15 mm of rain compounded by te fact that we have 35 kpm winds from the sout gusting to 65 kpm, which can be more devastating than the rainfall. On Thursday we have 1 to 2 tmore millimeters of rain then dropping to -16 that night. Friday they are announcing-8 to -10°. So we'll have to assume that the trails will be on the icy side if there is anything left. The long range from March 2nd to March 10th, will be -5 to +8 with some rain.
Given the fact that our trailbase is probably as low as it has been in several years and the fact that we have this upcoming weather, if it holds through, gives a strong possibility that some Trails may be closed or sledding for hardcore. This has been a strange winter right across the nation, including Quebec which usually is a good mainstay for sledding.
