With all the grooming done this week and the very cold temperatures our trails should be in decent shape for this weekend.. The #1 was on the trail since yesterday morning with first piston alley, then from Rogers Lake out on 23 to 9 Mile Shelter, North on 22 up to the 507, back south on 22 (did the 40 cluster 508), then down to Nepisiguit lodge on trail 23. From there it was onto Bathurst to the Atlantic Host, but alas, the unit stopped near Blue Mountain where trail 19 crosses the highway 430. We'll pick it up this morning at daylight.
I got to thinking last night about the Popple Shelter. It burnt on January 6th and here it was back there in a new rebuild on Jan 20, exactly two weeks to the day. If that isn't amazing, I don't know if anything else is. Spearheaded by Marc Hannan and a lot of input from Marc Poirier and James Guignard, owners of Three Step Contracting these people and others deserve a lot of credit. Just think of all the volunteer hours put in to get this done. The club can't thank them enough. It just goes to show you what our volunteers can do. Again thanks to Marc as he put the word out on social media for donations and they just started to pour in with cash donations and building supplies.
