Sunday, 6 AM, Club #1
-11 at post. I’ve never seen such a screwed up forecast for a long while. We just went through a 8 to 10 cm dump preceded by 10 mm of rain and now they’re calling a weather warning for more snow at 0 degrees with +5 for tomorrow. Take it for what it is worth. The good thing is that it provided some cover on Piston Alley, which will be short lived, so we’re hoping that it will provide access to the higher grounds above Popple depot where there is still decent sledding.
On another note, the Nepisiguit Lodge is officially shut down due to the lack of sled traffic. It is an understatement that this has been one of the worst seasons with decent conditions on record and it was tribute to one thing. We want to thank Joan and her staff for working through these times. Thanks to Joanne, Carl, Vernon and Brian for working through this strange season.
As much as possible, I will continue with reports to keep snowmobilers abreast of conditions and trail closures. Clubs from around the province are pretty well through with grooming, but there are areas left such as the Christmas Mountain area where you can still get in some decent sledding.
