We have good news on Piston Alley from Rogers Lake to Serpentine. There is a reported 20 to 25 inch snow cover from Popple Depot to Serpentine. It also should be decent going up Piston Alley, so if you left Rogers Lake and went to Serpentine, you would have had a decent run on our first good snow. I’m assuming anywhere above 500 feet of sea level, you should have decent snow to travel on here in the north. REMEMBER: TRAILS ARE STILL CLOSED.
Looking at the weather going forward it looks like a sprinkle of fresh snow every day starting today with about 10 more centimeters on the weekend. All good news plus the temperatures are holding steady at 0 and lower especially in the higher elevations. A word of caution leaving Nepisiguit: a small section of that trail needs to be frozen before passing. I will keep my ears open to see if anyone passed that swampy section. Other than that the safe bet would be Rogers Lake.
Thanks for the phone call Doug.
