Sunday, Club #1
After yesterdays major snowfall of 5 cm, we can look forward to the next major snowfall in the forecast so let’s get prepared for next Fridays forecasted storm of 1 cm. Can’t wait. We are still not grooming due to the lack of snow. What is so unusual is the lack of good grooming snow in the high ground; namely Rogers Lake to Serpentine and through Mt Carleton and over to Island Lake. You can avoid sled damage on these trails as you can do so by slowing down in some areas, so having said this then I would say you are good to go. I spoke to some local sledders out at Nepisiguit Falls and they say you can sled out to Nine Mile East road on Trail 23, BUT slow down to 30 KM or slower in places.
Club 22 has the trail groomed from Doaktown up as far as the Renous Highway. It should be decent then from there to Serpentine. Also I was speaking with Alyre from Serpentine yesterday and he was saying sledders find it decent going from Rogers Lake to Serpentine. He also had sledders in from the Boiestown area where they put off 10 Km up on the Holtville road. ALSO NOTE THAT HE SAID THAT HIS PHONE SYSTEM IS STILL NOT WORKING CONTRARY TO WHAT HAS BEEN SPREAD ON SOCIAL MEDIA.
I’m receiving a lot of emails and phone calls basically saying “it is what it is”. I thank those for showing their understanding of our situation. On another note we are in the final 5 weeks for our lottery draw. If anyone does want to support our club for this year due to our lack of fund raising activities, you can do so by clicking on the Lottery button at the top of this page and do it on-line, or at our local businesses. 36 cash prizes with a $25000 first prize. Some people have purchased up to 10 tickets in support of the club. Have you got yours yet?
